This Mother’s Day I have created a Wish List that I am pretty proud of and would like to share it with you!  Why would I be proud of a wish list?

Let me tell you, in the past few years I have been ALL ABOUT shopping at Target and Amazon.  I still shop there.  Heck, I am an Amazon Affiliate and an Amazon Influencer.  But the seeds of apprehension have been growing within me and with the combination of stories from sad, overworked Amazon warehouse workers, the New Green Deal from A.O.C., documentaries on the negative side effects of fast fashion, and my female friends striking out as small business owners I have realized the *enormous* power I have as a woman (women are responsible for 82% of the purchases done in their homes) to vote with my money.

We can all “vote with our money”.  Vote for what?  Eco-friendly, women/minority-owned businesses, recycled, cruelty-free goods to be hitting the streets. Not goods made by women and their babies who are working as slaves in sweatshops for us.

Shopping Amazon and the other big stores are convenient, but do I really want to make the richest man in the history of the world richer or do I want to put money in the pockets of hardworking men and women who are working sun up to sun down and still living in poverty, perhaps making only a dollar a day?

Making the world better with every purchase is the motto of DoneGood.com.  It is the “Amazon of social good”.  Have you heard of them?  Their site says that “Each day, American consumers spend more than $350 billion shopping. This equals the total funds raised by all U.S. charities in an entire year. If even a FRACTION of these dollars also reduced poverty, protected the environment, and created a better world, the impact would be enormous.”  And I believe it will be thanks to the smart folks at DoneGood!!  Side note, if you are interested in being a socially conscious and savvy shopper they have a plugin that I downloaded.  It clues you in to items you might like like Amazon does, but for companies that are focused on empowering workers around the world.  You like Anthropologie? Of course, you do!  Who doesn’t? Their stuff is amazing!  O.k. Then you’ll love this retailer who actually gives their workers a livable wage…

So here’s my list! !  If you add these to your wish list or buy for a mom in our life your gift will be a gift to not just your loved one, but the world at large too.  YAY!!! <3
